Ilana Shtayer-Omer is a modern dance teacher specializing in the Horton Technique. She is a graduate of the Bat-Dor School of Dance in Tel Aviv and a former dancer with the Bat-Dor Dance Company. In 1999, she moved to New York, where she danced with Earl Mosley’s Diversity of Dance for about eight years and taught modern dance classes.
Upon returning to Israel in 2007, she participated in the third season of the show "Born to Dance." Currently, she teaches modern dance at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, the Shira Ganor Ballet School in Tel Aviv, the Batsheva Dance Company School, the Bikurey Ha’itim, and the "Katzir" high school Rehovot, where she prepares students for modern dance exams. She has also taught at the Brenner Dance Center in Kibbutz Givat Brenner and at Thelma Yellin High School of the Arts. Additionally, she is involved in official Ministry of Education exams such as the "Recital" exam.
Ilana holds a B.Ed and a teaching certificate in dance and movement from Seminar HaKibbutzim College. She has also participated in the Horton Pedagogy workshop at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater School (2013, 2017, 2020, 2021) specializing in the Lester Horton Technique.

The Lester Horton Technique: The Lester Horton Technique features a unique movement language and distinct aesthetic. The principles of the method include enhancing physical capabilities, strengthening the body both technically and physically, coordination, flexibility, strength, precision, length of movement, and more.
